Postgraduate Residential Week – April 2024

This April, we look forward to welcoming students from across our range of postgraduate programmes to the GAA National Games Development Centre in Dublin for our Residential Week. Taking place from 2nd-5th April, this 4-Day residential provides the opportunity for students from across the world to join together for an immersive learning experience.

PJ Wilson, Head of Education at Setanta, provides an insight into what will be covered throughout the residential below.

“Setanta College is thrilled to announce our upcoming postgraduate in-person 4-day residential, set to be an exhilarating journey into the heart of the individual athlete’s development. Themed around the athlete’s unique journey, we will delve into holistic profiling encompassing physical, physiological, and psychological aspects. This immersive experience aims to provide coaches and athletes with profound insights into the challenges and opportunities prevalent in today’s sporting landscape. The journey commences with a comprehensive exploration of the modern sporting world’s dynamics.

Over the four days, participants will engage in a practical and meaningful exploration of profiling techniques. Through qualitative and quantitative methods, we will address the profiling of movement analysis, power, strength, hypertrophy, speed, and conditioning. The culmination of this event will showcase how practitioners can synthesise diverse data points to derive meaningful metrics, thereby informing future programming decisions.

What sets this residential apart is our distinguished presenters, high-level practitioners with diverse backgrounds and decades of experience, enriching the learning opportunity. Students will have the exciting prospect of peer-to-peer learning, fostering an environment where knowledge exchange thrives. Throughout the week, we hope to inspire, challenge, and equip students with the latest insights to elevate their coaching approach to athlete development.”
