Our Undergrad in S&C (Certificate through to Degree) programmes commence on March 9th, September 7th, and December 7th 2019. Our next Diploma intake takes place on October 5th 2019, while our Master of Science in Performance Coaching commences in September 2019.

Note: You may be able to claim tax relief on tuition fees paid. Tax relief is available after the first €1,500 spent on tuition fees on a part-time course at the standard rate of 20% .

Strength & Conditioning Courses

Certificate in Functional Screening & Resistance Training

This is the entry point to becoming a qualified Strength and Conditioning coach. The Certificate in Functional Screening & Resistance Training is a QQI Level 6 (30 credit) qualification, nine months in duration. Consisting of three key modules, the qualification will prepare the coach for work with individual athletes, players and team sports.

Certificate in Strength & Conditioning

This 18 month course is regarded as the industry standard for specialist Strength and Conditioning coaches. The Certificate in Strength and Conditioning is a QQI Level 6 (60 credit) qualification. Each of the six modules provides a comprehensive overview of key areas and topics within Strength and Conditioning.

The Higher Certificate of Science in Strength and Conditioning consists of 12 modules and provides 120 graduate credits.

BSc in Strength & Conditioning

The Bachelor of Science in Strength and Conditioning has now become a most attractive and popular sport coaching qualification. There are 18 modules in total. This award combines the six modules of the Certificate in Strength and Conditioning, the additional six of the Higher Certificate in S&C and the final six modules of the degree.

Fitness & Personal Training Courses

Diploma in Personal Training and Strength & Conditioning

By combining the new REPS Ireland approved Diploma in Personal Training (NFQ Level 5) with Setanta College’s world recognised Certificate in Functional Screening and Resistance Training (NFQ – QQI Level 6), this course will provide the fitness professional with a superior qualification when entering into or seeking to promote themselves within the fitness and wellness industry.

2% Learner Protection Charge

All QQI accredited programmes of education and training of 3 months or longer duration are covered by arrangements under section 65 (4) of the Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Act 2012 whereby, in the event of the provider ceasing to provide the programme for any reason, enrolled learners may transfer to a similar programme at another provider, or, in the event that this is not practicable, the fees most recently paid will be refunded.

Postgraduate Courses

There is no automatic entry on to the M.S in Performance Coaching programme.

Candidates may be accepted onto the programme with a 2.1 degree in any one of the following:

Strength and Conditioning, Sports Science, Sports Physiotherapy, Athletic Training or a similar field of study and at least three years relevant professional experience


An appropriate professional qualification (such as CSCS, UKSCA) and at least five years of relevant experience


Special Case Registrations: prospective participants who do not meet the entry requirements for the programme detailed above, but who may qualify for admission by meeting certain other equivalent criteria, should apply to the College Administrator for consideration. An interview may form part of the selection process for all application routes.

English proficiency to be demonstrated through any of the following:

– GCSE pass in English at Grade C or above
– IELTS with an average overall score of 6.5 for postgraduate study with at least a 5.5 in each component TOEFL IBT minimum score of 88 IBT for Postgraduate **
– Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE): exams taken from January 2015 – overall score of 176 for postgraduate study with at least 162 in each component; exams taken before January 2015 – Grade C and no less than borderline in each skill for undergraduate and postgraduate
– Trinity College English Language qualifications: ISE III Pass for postgraduate taught courses and research applications City and Guild’s IESOL/ISESOL tests at expert and mastery levels (C2 and C1) for the majority of postgraduate programs.
– Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) with a minimum of 67 points in each element for the majority of postgraduate programs

Congratulations on the completion of your course. In order to receive a formal graduation certificate, the awarding body, Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), require a registration fee to process and release your official parchment.
