Vamshi Jeggari is Head of Strength & Conditioning at Coaching Beyond, Founder of Everyday Elite and a student on the MSc in Performance Coaching.
Below, Vamshi discusses his transition from an engineering career to S&C, his coaching approach, working with youth athletes and more.
From Engineering to S&C
The early years of Vamshi’s career were as an engineer. He was also an avid cricketer and “always the kind of player who loved spending time in the gym.” This led him down the path of pursuing certifications in personal training and nutrition.
“Even though I couldn’t make it big as a cricketer, I wanted to stay connected to the sport somehow. When I started training my friends and family, a few of whom were state and national-level athletes, I realised that while I could help them get stronger and fitter, I didn’t really know how to make them better at their sport or guide them through injuries. Around that time, I tore my ACL and my own rehab experience opened my eyes to the impact Strength & Conditioning can have when combined with physiotherapy.
That experience completely changed my perspective. It pushed me to learn more about performance, movement, and recovery and that’s what eventually led me to transition from engineering into a full-time career in Strength & Conditioning coaching.”
Working with Coaching Beyond
As the Head of Strength & Conditioning at Coaching Beyond, Vamshi oversees the complete physical development of athletes ranging from grassroots players to elite state and IPL cricketers.
“My role involves designing and delivering performance programmes focused on strength, power, speed, and conditioning, along with regular testing and monitoring to track progress. I also place strong emphasis on reducing injury risk and long-term athletic development.
Working closely with coaches and physiotherapists ensures each athlete’s physical preparation aligns with their technical and tactical goals. I also mentor young S&C coaches and work under the guidance of R. Sridhar, B. Arun, and Ravi Shastri, the former Indian cricket team coaching trio from 2014 to 2021. Learning from their high-performance experience has shaped my approach as both a coach and a leader.
A typical day usually starts with writing and updating individualised training plans for our athletes based on their current phase and goals. Most of my time is spent on the floor coaching strength, speed, and conditioning sessions, making small adjustments depending on how each athlete is responding. I also handle regular testing and monitoring to track progress and guide future training.”
Founding Everyday Elite
Along with his work at Coaching Beyond, Vamshi is also the founder of Everyday Elite.
“At Everyday Elite, we bring the same science and structure used with athletes into the everyday environment through personalised training, conditioning, and nutrition programs. It’s not just about looking fit; it’s about moving better, feeling stronger, and building long-term resilience. Our mission is to make high-performance principles accessible to everyone, not just professionals in sport.”
Working with Youth and Elite Level Cricketers
“Cricket is ultimately a skill-based sport, but physical preparation gives those skills a stronger foundation to shine. My focus with young cricketers is on building movement quality, strength, and resilience so they can express their skills faster, longer and with greater consistency.
When working with elite-level players, the approach shifts from building a base to refining performance. At that level, the focus is on small details: maintaining strength and power through long seasons, improving recovery, and fine-tuning physical qualities that directly impact their role in the team.
With developing athletes, the goal is much broader building movement fundamentals, coordination, and general athletic qualities that set them up for long-term success.
Elite players need precision and monitoring while developing players need exposure and consistency.”
Studying with Setanta
“I chose Setanta College because it offered the flexibility I needed to balance my professional commitments and family responsibilities. The blended-learning format allowed me to continue
coaching full-time while pursuing higher education. Another big factor was the alumni network. Every Setanta graduate I spoke to had only good things to say about the programme and how it helped them grow as coaches. That gave me a lot of confidence in choosing Setanta for my MSc in Performance Coaching.
The most beneficial part of studying with Setanta has been how practical and immediately applicable the learning is. Every module ties directly into real coaching situations. So far, I’ve completed modules in Athlete Monitoring and Coaching Technology, The Coaching Process, and Movement Analysis and Biomedical Aspects. Each one has sharpened how I plan training blocks, assess movement, and track athlete progress. The course has truly helped me think more critically, make data-informed decisions, and keep the athlete at the centre of every program I design.”
Looking to the Future
“My dream is to work with national or international cricket setups, such as the NCA or IPL teams, where I can contribute to developing athletes at the highest level. I want to be part of an environment that challenges me daily and allows me to apply both science and experience to enhance performance. Beyond that, I also hope to build a platform that educates young coaches and athletes about the importance of holistic training blending strength, conditioning, recovery, and mindset to create well-rounded performers.”
