Led by Setanta’s Academic Director PJ Wilson, this applied workshop brings together leading practitioner Dan Howells and VALD’s Kieran Smith to explore how clean, reliable testing can drive better strength and power programming.
The session focuses on common diagnostic tests — the Isometric Mid-Thigh Pull (IMTP), Countermovement Jump (CMJ), Nordic strength assessments, and VALD’s Force Frame and force plate technology. Attendees will examine what good data hygiene looks like in practice: consistent test setup, clear coaching cues, recognition and removal of poor trials, and structured data capture for meaningful longitudinal comparison.
Through practical hands-on stations, delegates will gain experience administering tests, collecting live data, and using VALD systems to visualise key force–time metrics. The workshop then moves into a facilitated data review where Dan, PJ, and Kieran guide participants in interpreting results and connecting them to real-world programming decisions.
